ATA’s Medical Division is calling all health care interpreters to share their experiences and ideas in a guided collaborative session. Scripting is a tool that makes interpreters’ lives easier by equipping them with ready-to-use phrases for scenarios where they need to step out of their conduit role and intervene during a session. On the spot, it can be tricky to stay professional, brief, precise, and transparent. This is why brainstorming with colleagues before the situation arises can be extremely helpful. Come share your go-to phrases for scenarios you’ve encountered and borrow from your colleagues for others that may arise.
